The goal of the University of Michigan LSA Collegiate Fellowship Program is to support exceptional scholars in all three divisions of the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) — humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences — who are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the academy.

They are particularly interested in scholars who have demonstrated their ability to bring critical perspectives from non-traditional educational backgrounds and pathways to their work, as well as scholarly understanding of the experiences of groups that have historically been underrepresented or marginalized in higher education.

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for the Scholarship:

  • Doctoral degrees must be completed between January 1, 2019 and July 1, 2024 for applicants in the natural sciences; doctoral degrees must be completed between January 1, 2021 and July 1, 2024 for applicants in the social sciences or humanities (August 31, 2024 for applicants in the Department of Economics).
  • Individuals who have received a PhD from U-M or are now employed as postdoctoral, faculty, or staff at U-M are ineligible.

Applications for the 2023 LSA Collegiate Fellowship Program, excluding Biophysics, Chemistry, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Economics, Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology, Mathematics, and Statistics, are due Friday, September 8, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. ET, with reference letters due Monday, September 11, 2023 by 11:59 p.m. ET. Applications and reference letters are due Monday, October 16, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. ET for candidates in the Departments of Biophysics, Chemistry, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Economics, Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, Mathematics, and Statistics. Apply Now!

Documents Needed: A full submission will include the following:

  • CV stands for curriculum vitae.
  • Research/scholarship statement outlining your scholarly work and including your research plan for the fellowship time (2-3 pages*; references, citations, calculations, and visuals do not count against the page limit).
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion statement (1-3 pages) describing your demonstrated commitment to and participation in diversity, equity, and inclusion through scholarship/research, teaching/mentoring, and/or service/engagement. Your research/scholarship statement and teaching statement may have some overlap.
  • Teaching philosophy statement (1-3 pages) that includes formal or informal teaching and mentoring experience.
  • Abstract of the dissertation (1 page).
  • Writing sample (two to three samples; maximum of 35 pages per writing sample). Research papers, journal articles, and dissertation chapters are some examples. The page limit does not include references, citations, calculations, appendices, or graphics.
  • Three reference letters (a maximum of four). Applicants may not submit reference letters on behalf of their referees.
  • *Chemistry applicants should provide a 5-10 page statement of future research intentions, including a 1-page executive summary.

Excellence Scholarships for International Students at TU Delft awarded by Justus and Louise van Effen

For international students, the Delft University of Technology has a number of excellence scholarship programs. One of these initiatives is the Justus & Louise van Effen Scholarship, which aims to financially support outstanding overseas MSc students who aspire to study at TU Delft.

You are an excellent international applicant who has been admitted (conditionally) to one of the two-year conventional TU Delft MSc programmes (not a Joint Education Programme).

  • You have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 80% of the maximum possible.
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree from a university of international distinction outside of the Netherlands.
  • You submitted a comprehensive MSc application before the deadline.

  • You must apply online for an MSc program before December 1, 2023 (23:59 CET). In addition to the standard documents required for an MSc programme application, you must also upload a scholarship application form and two reference letters.
